Each of these well-known "surge suppressors" were zapped
with a 1,200 volt, 600 amp surge and the suppression performance was
measured.
Top trace is the hot wire and the bottom trace is the ground wire.
The traces of the MOV suppressors show damaging let-through voltage
is clearly evident on the hot line as is the contaminated ground from
the diverted surge. Compare with the Zero Surge trace and note there is
barely a rise on the hot and nothing on the ground. Which one would you
plug your expensive electronic equipment into?
